The final view!

March 23, 2011. 9pm The last day of my observation. The moon is only about 65% visible, but i can not see it. THERE IS SNOW POURING DOWN! it is day 3 of spring and there is about 3 inches of snow on the ground. I hope for anyone that decides to observe the moon that you do it in the summer, it was a fun but cold observation. I learned new things and built a new appreciation for how the world works ..

March 22, 2011. 10pm... CLOUDS AND A CHANCE OF SNOW! isnt it supposed to be the second day of spring. This has been a crazy winter and now that its over the snow just doesnt want to leave us. the moon seems to be approx. 75% visible.

March 21, 2011. 10pm. Fast moving clouds! and an extremely foggy night! Tonight i was up north and the weather was crazy, it was soo unbelievably foggy and the clouds were speeding right past the moon. They moved so fast that i could clearly get a glimpse of it. It is still quite big but it is still fading away from full visibilty.

March 20, 2011. 10 pm It is now a dissappearing act, I can not see the moon tonight but i know that it is starting to fade away as it has done every single time after the moon is fully visible. Last night was the last night i am going to be observing the moon in its fullest form.

The new moon cycle

March 19, 2011, A FULL MOON IS IN THE SKY!  it is not very warm anymore, it is infact once again very chilly outside, but still a great clear night. I was in monticello ny this evening and got to see the sky from a different point of view. The stars are very visible in this area.

March 18, 2011.  ALMOST FULLY GROWN! the moon is growing at a fast rate. its crazy because before i couldnt find the moon and now i dont even have to go on a hunt looking. it is shining down bright and huge. It is one night away from being full!

March 17, 2011. HAPPY SAINT PATTY'S DAY!!! amazing night, warm, and clear skies. It was the most perfect saint pattys night that anyone could ask for. The moon is almost full, and this is very exciting, i would say about 90% visible.

March 16, 2011 tonight was warm and clear. I was watching the moon through my friends sun roof which was exciting because it was clear and warm enough to have the sun roof open. There were soo many stars in the sky tonight. I really enoyed just looking up at the sky this evening. 85% visible

March 15, 2011 Clear and amazing night! the moon is growing in size its about 75% visible.

March 14, 2011. Another cloudy night, however i was able to see that moon shining through. The clouds were moving fast by allowing a break for the moon to make an appearance. The moon is getting bigger. about 65% visible.

March 13, 2011. It is cloudy out, but i am able to see the moon shining through i can not tell how big it is because the clouds are so dense, but i am going to predict that it is about 50% visible. Were half way there!

March 12, 2011. The moon is almost half visible to the eye now. it is another nice night which is great and the snow is all gone. The moon is going to continue to grow and i hope it doesnt dicide to hide again.

March 11, 2011. It is a clear night, I am thankful that it is not so cold anymore because going outside with 4 feets of snow and freezing to look for the moon was no fun. Now im starting to enjoy being outside more and can not wait for the weather to be in the 60's. The moon is about 40% visible, it is exciting to be able to see the moon again.

March 10, 2011 Such a horrible night! There is soo much rain and Im not even attemting to look for the moon, the rain is heavy and im going to assume that the moon is about 25% visible.

March 9, 2011. Tonight is cloudy, i can see the moon poking through the clouds tho. It isnt very big yet still just a cresent shape, but it is most definetly growing.

March 8, 2011, Clear night, stars in the sky and im still able to see the moon. It is growing in size and is about 10% visible,

March 7, 2011. YAY!! I SEE THE MOON! finally i can visible see the moon. It is such a nice night because it seems to be getting a little warmer. The moon is about 5% visible, just a small cresent shape, but im sure it will be huge in no time.

March 6, 2011, Rain, cold, and if there is a moon i can not see it tonight. I wonder if its starting to grow...

March 5, 2011, Clear night no clouds in the sky but still no moon. I think that it will start to appear again tomorrow, but we will see. Im excited to see this new moon start. I never took the time to pay attention to the moon, this really is interesting to me.

March 4, 2011 NEW MOON TODAY! I was able to look up some information and tonight is the beginning or the new moon. This means that the moon is not at all visible to the naked eye right now and will start  to grow once again. hopefully i will soon be able to see it.

March 3, 2011, Beautiful clear night, soo many stars in the sky, BUT NO MOON. where in the world are you moon!  Im assumming the moon is almost completely gone tonight.

March 2, 2011. The moon is stull hiding. I wish i could figure out why, however this is going to be the first new moon cycle that i get to see during this observation. Im excited to see what is to come. The moon is still disappearing from my research.

Clouds and a fading moon

February 28, 2011. 10pm. the last night of february is finally here. Once again it was a cloudy night and they were so dence i could not see the moon. Since the moon is fading away it can not shine brightly through the clouds. I am soley going off of predictions and observations in the past to figure out where the moon will be at this time. I feel it is most likely only about 20% visible.

Clouds

February 27, 2011. 10 pm. The sky is still quite heavily filled with clouds. I thought i may have saw the moon shining through but i was not positive if it was in fact the moon. The moon is now almost gone and is approx. 35% visible. This is approx. where i i started observing the moon last time but it was growing not fading away.

Bye moon

February 26, 2011. 10pm. SNOW! MORE SNOW! The snow was so dense i could not see the sky. I was shocked that after the nice weather we were having that it would snow. The moon was hiden behind the clouds tonight but i know that it is still slowly fading away. and less then 50% visible now.

Half was gone

February 25, 2011. 10pm. Tonight wa a beautiful clear night with stars in the sky. I still can not find the moon, but from my research the moon is only alf visible. It will slowly be turning into just a sliver.

dude wheres the moon!

February 24, 2011. 10 pm.. Goodbye moon, The moon is really becoming hard to find. I have searched the sky and it seems it does not want to reveil itself. The moon is however shrinking and almost half gone.

where art thou?

February 23, 2011. 10 pm. Another clear night and another adventure for the moon. I am trying to understand why the moon that was once visible every night, I now can not find. The moon should be approximately only 60 to 70% visible.

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

clear night.. still no moon

February 22, 2011. 9 30 pm. I am officially confused. I can not find the moon it is a clear night. I will go out later tonight again and see if i can find it, but it seems to not want to make an appearance lately. The moon should be deminishing still in size and most likely approx. 80% visible.

Where is the moon???

February 22, 2011. 10 pm and a few times after, I could not find the moon anywhere, not even its light shining through the clouds. The weather was cold and very cloudy. Once again i have to go off my observations of the past to attempt to predict what the moon looks like tonight.

Monday, February 21, 2011

No moon.. no picture

February 20, 2011, 10 pm to 11pm. I went outside numerous times tonight and could not see the moon. I do not know if it is because i was in a different location or if the sky was just filled with dense clouds. I can only guess what the moon looks like from my previous observations. I would predict that the moon is still diminishing in size and with the rate of how fast it diminishes i would say it is approx. 85 to 90 % visible tonight. Here is a picture of what i believe the moon would look like tonight if i had seen it.

bye man!

February 19, 2011. 10pm. tonight i could not get a clear picture because every where i went the moon was hiding behind the trees. It was clear out tonight, but the picture i have does not do what i saw justice. The moon is shrinking in size, but it is not as small as what it appears in my picture. In this case the web picture is crucial to show you what the moon actually looked like. The moon i would say is approximately 90 to 95% visible.

Dissappearing act

February 18, 2011. 10pm. The moon still appears to be 100% visible, but seems that it may be starting to diminish in size. However the side of the moon that appeared to me becoming more visible with time is not the side that is staying in tact and the other side of the  moon is becoming less visible. It was once again a clear and very warm night for February. Here is what i saw...

Full moon

February 17, 2011. 10 pm. Tonight the moon is finally 100% visible. It was a clear night and the moon was shining brightly. I was not in my usual location for this picture which is at my house in Putnam Valley, instead i was in Fishkill not too far from home. Tonight was a great night to take the moon picture because it was clear skies and warmer then its been lately.  Here you can see the entire man on  the moon!

Cloudy

February 16, 2011. 10 pm tonight was very cloudy and the moon was peaking through only every once in a while. The moon is near complete at approx. 95% full, i believe in a night or two it will be a full moon. The picture I took doesnt give the moon justice tonight. The clouds made it very hard to get a good shot. Here are my pictures and one that represents more of what i was able to see with my eyes.

Almost Full

February 15th, 2011. 9 30 pm. The moon is growing and is almost completely full. I would say it is approximately 85 to 90% visible and only days away from being complete. The tempatures have dropped tonight, but the sky was clear.

Monday, February 14, 2011

changing weather.. changing moon.

February 13, 2011. 10pm. Today was a warm day, snow is starting to melt, as we fell into night and the temperatures dropped, clouds started to come out. The moon is still getting progressively larger. Just the other day it was almost half full and now im starting to see more of the man on the moon. About 80% of it is visible and this is what it looks like,

Nothing in the sky but clouds HOWEVER!

February 13, 2011. 10 pm. Tonight I went out side and when i looked up i saw no stars because it was an overcast of clouds. I didnt think i would be able to see the moon, however the moon being so bright and the clouds moving fast and not being too dense allowed to moon to appear clearly. You can see the clouds moving around the moon quite fast. The moon is still getting larger, not too much larger then last night, but still visibly growing.

A few rolling clouds

February 12, 2011.  approx. 10pm. There were a few clouds in the sky but they were moving fast and they were small soo it didnt hinder seeinging the moon, in fact it made the sky more beautiful. The moon is growing in size still, from my understanding we are in the waxing gibbous moon phase. I would approximate that 65% of the moon was showing today.

Seeing more of the man

February 11, 2011 10pm. Today the night is once again very clear and I am able to see the stars and the moon with full visibility. The moon itself is becoming more visible, it appears to be growing. At this time it seems that approximately half the moon is visible or just slightly more.

Day 1, a clear night

February 10, 2011.10 pm. Day one of my moon phase blog and what a perfect night to start. Tonight the sky was clear and from where I live in Putnam Valley you can see hundred of stars. The moon is slightly less then half visible and the brightness seems to fade and you look into the center of where the other half should be. My pictures are not too clear, however I have posted a picture next to mine that gives a better view of what I was seeing tonight.
